Question:

Has anyone had success (or lack of success) with any of the various prescription non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in lessening chronic nasal/sinus inflammation?  I don’t even know if ENTs ever prescribe these drugs to deal with sinus problems. While I’m sort of on the subject:  How much aspirin or ibruprofen does one ingest daily in order to optimize their anti-inflammatory capabilities? What the heck:  A.A. Fox once posted here that ibuprofen use can cause polyps to re-occur.  Can one predict in a particular patient whether the polyps will re-form if ibuprofen is used for extended period? Thanks as always to those who are in the know and willing to assist. Yes, we do sometimes use it. Some patients will have problems with polyps with NSAIDS, but there are no clear ways to predict it. > Thanks as always to those who are in the know and willing to assist. > Dean. > dhester…@harrahs.com > —–== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==—– > http://www.dejanews.com/   Now offering spam-free web-based newsreading

No Tylenol is not aspirin related and the % is probably higher than 90% — Murray Grossan, M.D. http://www.ent-consult.com   tell a friend

about 90% of persons who develop nasal polyps are allergic to aspirin and related products and will reform polyps when they take these products. I recommend to all my nasal polyp patients to avoid these products. Murray Grossan, M.D. http://www.ent-consult.com  tell a friend Murray Grossan, M.D. http://www.ent-consult.com

That’s surprising! Is Tylenol considered aspirin-related? Do these people know they’re allergic? 90% is a high number!
