Question:

hi, cataflam is a fast acting form of diclofenac (diclofenac potassium).  the potasium salt makes it fast acting for pain.  it is an nsaid (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) and is often used for aches and pains related to sports injury, arthritis flare-ups, and PMS/menstrual cramps.  i know that some docs use these products for HAs. i spoke w/ a neurologist the other day at the hospital who also said that these types of drugs do not cause rebound.  don’t know myself as i can’t take them due to a problem with asthma.  you might ask dr sandweiss who monitors this site.  he does clinical research and knows a great deal about meds for migraine and other vascular HAs.  also go to NIH  and pubmed for a free medline search on rebound and NSAID analgesics.  hope this helps. kh – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Has anyone experienced rebound HA using Cataflam? My neurologists PA prescribed it and promised me it would not cause rebounds.  I have had a migraine 17/17 days that I have used it and now my neuro wants to put me in the hospital for 3-days for DHE-45 treatment. His answer is that I am having rebounds from the Cataflam which his PA told me wouldn’t happen.  I don’t know who to believe and I really don’t want to spend 3 days in the hospital. He also won’t do the DHE-45 on an outpatient basis and I really can’t lose any more work/personal time because of the HAs.
