Question:
Hi Guys, on the basic that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, how about we have another "5 Good Things" thread? Only this time they’re Great Things because it’s more than good to take control of your life and eating, isn’t it? ;o) To kick off, here’s my 5 Great Things for the last couple of weeks: 1. I got through an even tougher aerobics video this week, so I have more variety in my exercise and do more cardio. 2. I bought a pair of shorts and a t-shirt for exercise that were… <dramatic drum roll…UK Size 14! In an ordinary shop, not a designer shop where the sizes come up generous. The shorts are still a little snug, but who’s counting? 3. I’ve taken vitamins every day and my weird symptoms are going (Thanks for the tip, Diane!). 4. I haven’t had to use my reliever asthma inhaler for two weeks, despite doing aerobics and walking up hills fast. 5. I’ve started taking care of my appearance, including doing nasty things with wax <y’ouch!, doing my hair up and wearing make-up so everyone thinks I’ve got a new man! (I haven’t – I just have the old one, only he’s grinning a lot more) — Anna Hayward started 176/now 161/goal 142 Started WW (online) 21/03/03 at 176 lbs 1st Mini-goal (1st stone): 162 lbs (achieved 02/05/03) 10% Goal: 158 lbs IFFC goal: 155 lbs
Response:
That’s great, Anna! Let me try: 1) With my 40 lenghts of swimming, I did 5 lenghts of front crawl without interruption (usually I am breast-stroke girl) 2) I found I take better care of myself: I am tanning, massage my thighs with firming-cream (hope to eliminate the dimples) and bought new anti-wrinkle cream
. 3) As a result, I already feel sexier and more self-assured about my looks (even though the weight loss is not noticable yet) 4) My favorite pants are beginning to slide down a little. 5) I am determined to make it work and feel the confidence that I can.

Good Thread suggestion Anna! Here’s my 5: 1. Stuck faithfully to my plan for the entire week – weigh-in is tomorrow. 2. Got back to the Y and am doing weight lifting three times a week along with 30 minutes of cardio. 3. Put my own scale in the closet and took the battery out of it. (I’m scale obsessed, and fluctuations drive me nuts, so I vow to only weigh at a meeting.) 4. Made sure to get all my dairy, and all my fruits and vegetables. As a consequence I haven’t felt the need to binge once. (55 year binge eater here.) 5. No longer short-changing the dog on his walks. We’re quick-stepping along the riverbank for at least 45 minutes every morning. Today we were up close and personal with several pairs of Canada geese, a bunch of mallards, various squirrels and groundhogs and a red-headed woodpecker. Life is GOOD! Paper
Response:
1. I had 3 different people yesterday tell me that they could tell I was losing weight! One was even one of my employees that is 19 yrs old, and probably would never say that again in his life. 2. Exercised every day this week, including hauling furniture up a flight of stairs in 100% humidity. 3. Within my range of points this week, even when I flipped out earlier this week. 4. Got a second interview on Thursday for a promotion (wish me luck!) 5. I’m alive and well in the summer of Texas, and I haven’t melted yet. Brynda (210/200.2/175 (IFFC)/150)

1. I started decorating the bathroom and toilet over the holiday. 2. I drove into work today and instead of listening to the morning news on radio 4 I listened to my favourite singer – Al Stewart. and sang along – loudly. I’m still not sure why I was in such a good mood but it’s lasted all day. Even after finishing stripping the wallpaper in the loo I’m Still in a happy mood. 3. Did exercise yeasterday, and went for a long walk on sunday. I’m about to do another bout of exercise now so I’m well on the way to a star this week 4. had a wonderful weekend with friends and discovered a very good restaurant in shrewsbury (not ww friendly – but very good food for a special occasion). 5. lady at work came in with her new baby. She has been made redundant but is really happy about it ‘cos she has been able to pay off enough bills to not have to go back to work. (they will live of hubby’s wages). She commented on my weight loss too, which was nice
She has a beautifull new baby called Thomas

Good idea, Anna. Last time I honestly couldn’t come up with 5 things, so I didn’t post. I’ll try to come up with 5 this time: 1. I just finished mowing our backyard and earned 4 activity points! 2. I got a promotion at work last week! 3. I only have 3 more classes until I earn my next insurance designation (FLMI)! 4. Hubby is adjusting to his illness and meds and is starting to feel a little better mentally. We’re hoping the physical stuff will improve soon, too. 5. 1. Have been dilly dallying & going over points for the last 3 week. So this week I have been right on program – weighing & measuring all. 2. Almost 1/2 finished the spring cleaning (wall washing) and able to do it with just a few sore muscles. 3. Working in the garden every day 4. Earning about 8 to 10 extra points a day. 5. You’re right Denise. When I look at my 24 lb son I am constantly thinking, my god I can’t believe that I have gotten rid of that much weight. It really is amazing! Carrying him around for any length of time is a real chore, now I can understand why my body used to hurt so much before I lost the weight! Brenda 209/184/150 IFFC goal 175

Our leader once had all of us bring as much food in (in weight) as we had lost. At that point, a couple of years back, I had lost enough that I found it hard to carry the goods. It’s odd to think we now carry it all day without thinking. — Denise 233/220/133
