Question:
Hi, Does anyone know of alternative or natural treatments for athritis that i can try, especially pain relief. I already take a fish oil supplement, and have just heard of eliminating citrus fruit from the diet which i am about to try. Thanks Sonia

Sonia…. Natures Bounty ( NBTY) has a new supplement which is helping many people with the pain of arthritis. I don’t know if what I have is arthritis or not, I’m 50 yrs. old, in pretty good health but upon arising in the mornings I could hardly walk because of the pain in my feet…also bad pain in my lower back. It was mostly in the morning and once I would get up and going it would pretty much go away. Within a week’s time I woke to find myself pain free. It wasn’t gradual…it just happened. My mother and mother-in-law are also using it now and experiencing the same wonderful results. Plus it’s good for many other ailments because it gives the immune system an incredible boost. Allergies, sinus and asthma conditions are also responding exceptionally well to this product. You can read some of the testimonies at the company website http://royaltonganlimu.com/Pages/Inthefirst60days.pdf or http://royaltonganlimu.com/Pages/Inthefirst90days.pdf This one is backed with clinical studies which can be found at PubMed. Cher Glory To God! I posted this on the newsgroup site as well.

Thanks i’d love to find out some more about this, the arthritis is in my hips, i’ve already started using the little self adhesive magnets that you can buy in boots but they only provide limited relief. sonia
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Alternative treatments if you drastically wish to change how your joints FEEL, you should think of looking into Nikken magnetics. You can wear bracelets to affect a wrist joint; you can wear innersoles to affect legs; or one can sleep on a magnetic sleep system to affect the entire body and get a wonderful night’s sleep. If you’d like to look into this, please let me know. The sleep system turned my life around when I suffered from an extremely hurtful muscle condition. Jacque

Depending upon the type, sometimes capsacin will work (there’s lots of stuff out there..I recommend SOMBRA). I can also recommend joint realignment

If it is osteoarthritis (sometimes called degenerative arthritis) have you tried glucosamine and/or chondroitin? You have to be sure to take one from a reputable source (as with all non-regulated supplements.) It’s a bit controversial, but there have been some scientific studies showing both pain relief and actual cartilage improvement with the use of glucosamine. (some sources say the chondroitin is important, too, but unfortunately it’s the expensive one of the pair.) I myself have been taking them for about 3 years, and they have *tremendously* helped the joints affected by osteoarthritis (I also have a rare form of rheumatoid arthritis which is not at all affected by gluc. or chond.) Personally I can’t say enough good things about these supplements, and I don’t sell them, either. :-) The biggest problem with any treatment for arthritis, alternative or not, is that the illness itself is extremely variable. So, about a billion things have been promoted for helping it, because just by chance some people are going to feel relief after taking anything, including water or air. That’s why I stressed the scientific evidence. – Naomi D.
