Question:

Due to my sinus problems and my son’s asthma, we run 4 air hepa cleaners in the house whenever the house is closed up (1 in the livingroom, 1 in each bedroom, and 1 in the basement).   This helps a lot with the dust and pet dander problem, but it’s costing more than I had figured with running them 24/7 plus having to replace the filters. Has anyone here tried the Ionic Breeze?   It’s the one you see on the infomercials all the time.   No replacement filters, no fan (less noisy), and it’s suppose to be easy to clean. I’m just wondering if it really works as great as they say. Thanks in advance for any opinions! — Kendall F. Stratton III k…@maine.rr.com http://home.maine.rr.com/k3

Dunno from Sonic Breeze, but an article in Consumer Reports a long time ago said that all (almost all?) of the electrostatic cleaners they tested produced significant amounts of ozone (not a good thing). We have a filter in our central system.  Takes a huge accordion-fold cartridge that we change 2x per year.   Does is work?   Dunno that either…but the maker *claims* it removes very, very small particles. ———————– Pete Cresswell

I purchased a Quadra Breeze (a smaller plug-in Breeze was included for free) about a year ago. Breeze models do not create drafts like HEPA cleaners <good>. Breeze models work extremely well at removing cigar odor <very good>. Breeze models are quieter than HEPA cleaners (although they can make a static-type noise when moderately dirty) <very good>. Breeze models are cheaper to run and use <very good>. Breeze models take up less floor space <good>. Breeze models make the air smell fresh <good/bad (ozone!)>. The Quadra Breeze does not remove dust/dander particles from the air as well as the Honeywell & Austin cleaners I own <very bad>. All Breeze models emit ozone, slightly makes my asthma worse <bad>. Both of my Breeze models are dead <reliability very bad!> —
