Question:

I was wondering from those here who use Thermadrene: 1. How long have you been using it?

Since September – when you recommended it. 2. Do you cycle like the directions say too?

not per the bottle directions – I usually go Mon – Fri and take Sat, Sun off. 3. What would happen if you stopped using it?

Headaches are the biggest thing I notice. 4. Does it still work for you?

Other than the energy boost – I haven’t seen it work for me in the way of weight loss.   It does help me out in the mornings when I’m super sleepy – I take a pill and can wake up.   But I do get a little jittery – because I’m stuck behind a desk all day long.   I wish I could get up and run around … then it would probably work better for me. It does curb my appitite a little bit … but other times – I still get pretty hungry and end up eating. THe good thing is – it helps to clean out my system on a daily basis … if you know what I mean …   5. Have you ever used another premade stack and did it work better/worse?

I’ve tried some others.   Some made me way to jittery – others didn’t do much at all.  But as for weight loss –  nothing has ever really worked for me. I’ve been using it for 1 year now and don’t cycle off it. It still seems to be working for me.

Jennifer,

Response:

Has it upped your blood pressure?  I think anyone who is taking anything with stimulants in them should get their blood pressure taken regularly.  I take my own…and was surprised at how just a decongestant (either with Phenylpropanolamine  (sp) or pseudoephedrine) raised my BP…..not horribly high…but higher than I want.  Doe I just started using Thermadrene 2 weeks ago.  I take it every day.  At first, I was real jittery and felt wired, my pupils were totally dilated. But those effects seem to have worn off.  I dont think I feel quite the boost I did the first week.  Maybe cycling off of it keeps it more effective.  I am going to try cycling now for a while.  I did lose like 3 pounds the first 10 days I started using it.  Im not hungry at all on it.  I have to force myself to eat, which is a big change for me!  Hope that helps. Response:

When I started taking thermadrene I would do the cycle, { one day off- 2 days on}. But I got tired of feeling that wired so I stopped cycling. It’s been good for me so far. You mentioned being on it for 2 weeks.  What is with the aspirin?  How are you supposed to cycle?

Response:

i’m not using Thermadrene, but i’ve been playing with xenadrine…so i’ll answer accordingly

I was wondering from those here who use Thermadrene: 1. How long have you been using it?

over the summer, off during the school term, and have been on it since about a week before x-mas. 2. Do you cycle like the directions say too?

kinda, but the directions don’t really say it on my bottle, but to be safe i try to. 3. What would happen if you stopped using it?

what has happened is that my panic attacks which lead to asthma returned a bit, terribly caffeine withdrawl headaches-i suggest weening yourself off it.  in regards to the asthma/panic attacks-the ephedrine supposedly helps to control them, and i really do think that is what happened with me.  if i see myself going toward an asthma attack i’ll take one and it does help. when i stopped, i was a bit more hungry but not terribly, again the headaches mentioned above…that’s really about it though.  i wasn’t as energized either, but after i weened myself from it, i was ok and back to "normal" energy levels due to the weight loss. 4. Does it still work for you?

it seems to be, i’ve dropped somewhere from either 2-7 pounds since i started back on break even with all the x-mas foods depending on how my scale can be believed. 5. Have you ever used another premade stack and did it work better/worse?

ECA stack didn’t work as well when i tried it, but i am considering to go to a different stack due to costs. or heck, just making my own. I’ve been using it for 1 year now and don’t cycle off it. It still seems to be working for me.

well, that’s about it for me. Julie

Response:

As far as the aspirin goes, your body tries to counteract the effect of the ephedrine by producing prostoglandins.  The aspirin inhibits prostoglandin production, therby increasing the effectiveness of the ephedrine. (Feel free to correct me on this if anyone knows different.  I’m just repeating what I have read on other newsgroups) I’ll try and sum up some of the information I have found on the cycling subject. 1. Over time, your body learns to compensate for the additional stimulants in your system.  Thus nervousness, jumpyness, etc. as well as the thermogenic effects of ECA tend to lessen with time.  Cycling keeps your body ‘off balance’, and doesn’t give it time to compensate.  Therefor the effects of ECA don’t diminish as much over time. 2.  The other school of thought is that while the nervousness and other side effects of ECA tend to wear off over time, the thermogenic effects do not (something to do with beta-3 receptors and norepiniphrine).  Therefor, cycling is not necessart as it will just cause the side effects to remain strong without any additional increase in metabolism. I can’t say for sure which school of thought is correct.  My plan is to continue taking ECA until I notice that it is not effective anymore, then I will try cycling for a while to see if it helps.  If I never notice a reduction in the effectiveness of ECA, then I don’t see a need to cycle. I hope this helps. Terry

Response:

I have been stacking for a couple of weeks now although not specifically with Thermadrene.  The product I use is called Thermacore and is the same kind of idea (20mg Ephedrine from Ma Huong extract, 200mg caffeine, and some synephrine).  I add the aspirine myself. As I already said, I’ve only been on it for a couple of weeks, so I haven’t had the chance to cycle yet.  So far I feel great!  Lots of energy, and the side effects (ie: nervousness, shakes, etc.) are beginning to ease. I’ve been doing a lot of research on the ECA stack and have found some conflicting information.  Some sources say that cycling is necessary and others say that is isn’t.  I guess I’ll just play it by ear. I think that some of the benefits of taking the stack for me come from the fact that I feel obligated to eat better and be more active so that the medication I’m taking is not in vain.  I feel like I’m finally doing something concrete about my weight, instead of just making weak promises to myself that I never seem to keep. To more specifically answer your survey questions: 1. 2 weeks 2. Not yet (maybe never) 3. I can’t say for sure, but I imagine my metabolism would slow down again. 4. Works great so far! 5. I use Met-RX Thermacore.  No complaints. Good luck to you and I hope you continue to have success in your efforts to be healthy! Terry

Response:

I haven’t stopped taking it. I wonder if I would get the headaches too.

The headaches from stopping the stack are due to caffeine withdrawal, not the ephedrine.  A strong cup of coffee, or a diet cola should take care of it, or a pain reliever with caffeine in it, like Excedrin. —                 "There’s a seeker born every minute."

Anyone who has hypertension should not take ephedrine, pseudoephedrine or phenylpropanolamine (you spelled it right) without being monitored by their doctor, because it will raise blood pressure, and may cause a hypertensive crisis in someone who already has high blood pressure. I believe the reason you are not supposed to take ephedrine with an MAO inhibitor drug is also because combining the two drugs may cause a hypertensive crisis. For people who had normal blood pressure levels in the first place, the effect of spiking blood pressure is one of the transcient side effects of ephedrine that goes away after a short period of continuous use. My own BP before stacking was usually around 110/70, with stacking, usually around 120/80. —                 "There’s a seeker born every minute."

If you do get an alternative, let me know what you choose and how it does for you. I’m just curious. –Thanks  Mama 197/167/trying for 140 by 6/3/2000 Sometimes we are so busy adding up our troubles that we forget to count our blessings. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Mama, You may find that when you are ready to stop taking them – you will need to find an alternate source of caffeine to get you off the addiction (without headaches). In my case – I was taking only 1 thermadene a day – and on Sat and Sun I’d have headaches …  Drinking 2 or 3 cokes would cure the problem most times.   Then if I took a whole week off from thermadene – I’d find that by Mon or Tuesday the caffiene withdrawel symptoms would go away. I definately like the energy boost …  Its not the awful jittery kind – but it definately makes me wish I could get up and do something. Usually I do a speedwalk around the office. (Dilbertism:  How to make yourself look busy around the office without really working:  Walk around with a clipboard, pen and flashlight in hand – stop at various offices and look under the desk – then write jibberish down on the clipboard, and take the opportunity to socialize with the employee in the office) I’ve got 2 pills left in my bottle – its time to go restock – or find another alternative to try …   I’m glad you posted this survey – maybe I’ll get some good alternatives to try … THanks, Jennifer Delete the "not.at." to reply 138/135/120  and getting frustrated

Response:

I haven’t stopped taking it. I wonder if I would get the headaches too. I don’t get jittery anymore but I still feel the energy boost after taking one.  The boost gets a little stronger when I go walking, which I do about 30 minutes after taking one. The faster I walk the more energy I feel. I do get the jitters if I down a cup of black coffee after taking one. I won’t normally do that though unless I have a whole lot to get done. :-) I’ve notice that I can eat more carbs, { I lowcarb}, and maintain. I really think if I did this and stopped taking the thermadrene I’d gain weight.  I did at one time gain back 6 lbs., but I was eating junky food. I may not be losing at the speed of light, but I know for a fact I can gain at the speed of sound, so I’ll stick to my thermadrene. I’m going to wait till I reach goal to see what happens if I stop taking them. —  Mama 197/167/trying for 140 by 6/3/2000 Sometimes we are so busy adding up our troubles that we forget to count our blessings. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I was wondering from those here who use Thermadrene: 1.
