Question:

Well, the other night I was quite a sight to see.  For the past couple of weeks I have been trying to exercise, so I go for 2 mile walks at night.  For some reason the last time out I thought I would try and jog some of the distance (a few blocks at least).  Since I quit smoking cigarettes I have put on 10 pounds, plus the 60 I had already gained from zyprexa and risperdal.  My 230 pound carriage was not made for running, if you could even call it that.  As I jogged along, my fat belly bounced and jiggled over the top of my pants.  It was as if I had hit a harmonic resonance with my belly bouncing more and more forcefully with each further step.  All I could think of was how silly I must have looked to the passing cars.  Watch it wiggle, see it jiggle.  Jeeezzzz. Better stick to bowling! Jim

I have heard that seeing man boobies can give  people nightmare, perhaps wear a bra when you jog to fight your jiggling? But seriously, weightlifting is much better than running. You don’t want to lose what little muscle you have by jogging.

Jogging is good for the leg muscles, but doesn’t do anything above the waist.  Don’t have access to weights…maybe I’ll try push-ups and dips.

I have the opposite problem – I am 6"3′ and 10 1/2 stones – 1 1/2 stone underweight. I am joining the university gym to try to put some weight on. i tried the running machine when i went to my induction and i found it really fun…i could just daydream while pounding the treadmill. much better than swimming – "swimming would be much better without all that water…" — focus

Heavy joggers=joint problem. I’am not overweight and I would still avoid jogging so I wouldn’t develope joint problem.

Response:

It all depends on how tall you are. I’m slightly over 230 pounds myself. I don’t like to run though, but I will do Tae Bo. There may be a little jiggling, but I don’t give a sh*t. Weight lifting is not my area of strength. I think I have too poor of a diet for weight lifting. Plus, it bores me. In the past, when I have tried to get into weight lifting, I had difficulties guaging my diet, and tended to overeat, which resulted in a state of obesity. In fact, just about a year ago, I weighed 255 pounds. I don’t want to ever get to that state again. Tae Bo is probably a big contributer to my having lost the weight, as well as a slightly better diet…less fats anyway. I do what I do at home…the idea of going to a gym has never appealed to me. I’d like the freedom to let a fart lose as I strain without the whole world knowing about it. "jerasmus" <puppet_presid…@yahoo.com> wrote in message

There are a lot of musclebound men with no brains and no heart….totally superficial. I say, let it jiggle at least a little. Though I try to stay in shape myself, I have never judged my friends based on their physiques. In fact, my friend Ken is somewhat of a nerd, complete with glasses and these pants that often go above his waistline. I admit, I do judge my women by their physiques somewhat. But they probably do the same thing. That’s probably why I’ve been alone so long – there’s no purity involved! And then, poverty doesn’t help much either. Maybe I should give up my quest for the ideal white woman…and go for a more humble Latina.

Response:

Dan,   I say stick with the latinas. My first wife was a white woman, and my last two have been latinas. Latinas are much better in bed and are more humble. "Siete Vidas" <aksessden…@yahoo.com> wrote in message

I find the two best forms of exercise are a) swimming b)  walking from a to b by the way, be careful, we just experienced earth tremors here, I assume that was you jogging? Michelle

You make general statement which can apply to anybody. There are overweight people without brain and no heart as well. > Though I try to stay in shape myself, I have never judged my friends > based on their physiques.     I tried that today trying to get to the store before 5 pm. I have exercise-induced asthma so I have to keep my running strictly limited to a maximum of 200 paces, and then I am winded badly if I continue onward. If I try 100 paces, I can walk for 5-10 minutes then do another 100 paces. If I try 200 paces, it wipes me out for the next hour. Boot camp could kill me with the jogging requirement. I hope to lose weight, since I have been unable to tackle the subject in years for various reasons. If the mosquitoes are getting poisonous nowadays, maybe Winter exercise outdoors is all I can expect from now on. Running on a sheet of ice is not recommended!     I got to the store in time, but my speech was totally screwed. I couldn’t speak a coherent sentence to ask for what I was looking for. I was dripping sweat but ok, but unable to form sentences. I must have a thinking impairment as a result of exercise.     I can’t afford to go up another size of clothes, and the smaller ones I bought 9 years ago are still waiting for me to slip back into. I spent last night watching a videotape of the Arctic Blast from the past of January 17, 1994, that was interrupted by news of the Northridge Earthquake. We had windchills of 50 to 80 below zero with actual temps in the 20 to 40 below range the night before the quake, in Minnesota. The northeast US had a Nor’easter blizzard with freezing rain in the NYC, New Jersey area that stopped traffic cold. Hundreds of thousands of people lost power for days. A foot or more of snow in Boston and points west for hundreds of miles. One place in northern Minnesota got 54 inches of snow from Lake Effect snow over the weekend. Jennetta Jones was on The Weather Channel then as now. I heard muzak versions of "Who’s Gonna Drive You Home?" (by the Cars) on TWC. This was the last month I could breath normally before I was struck with a severe life-threatening breathing problem that has been dogging me ever since everyday.     I didn’t own a vcr at the time, but the apartment complex had one so we could tape cable shows on, I couldn’t afford cable in Minnesota. The vcr sucked tho, so there are a lot of glitches in the recording when I switched between channels ( I am a channel surfer with impatience), and there are glitches because the vcr was trying to eat the tape I was recording.     Tom Brokaw described the Earthquake as: Los Angeles is cursed and nobody knows how much more they can be expected to put up with.     The Earthquake hit 5 miles from where I used to live, so my building would most likely be uninhabitable by me if I still lived there at that time. I would have been permanently homeless if I was still there. As I remember, this occurred in the middle of the night on Martin Luther King Day…so the curse was real then..as it was when a similar quake hit Japan a year later. An anniversary crime of Quake!     Some public officials were talking about Earthquake insurance and why the gov’t should abandon pitching in for helping out. It was noted that 39 states are at risk for big earthquakes, plus there was the flood of the Millenium the year before on the Mississippi, and there was the Hurricane of the Century in Florida the year before. So pinning down all the wreckage blame on Californians is unfair because there are disasters nationwide from a variety of causes, just put it on FEMA’s bill! Budget $50 Billion a year for disaster cleanup by the Federal & State Governments and then you can cut out the blame game where it isn’t necessary to politicize acts of a vengeful Mother Nature (except by schiz. people). I have to agree about the swimming and water.  Maybe to save my life, but I was never a good enough swimmer to do it as exercise.  Focus, I like running and did it quite a bit when I was younger.  (I once ran 8km in 28min 20s).  There’s nothing like the intense high after a vigorous run.  Endorphin city.  I love running outside in autumn with the sights, smells, and sounds of the leaves and the trees.  The scent of the fireplaces seems to take me back to a warm, happy place. In my mind, Michelle, I am responsible for absolutely EVERYTHING, so I wouldn’t be surprised if I caused those tremors.  "I feel the earth shake, under my feet…" They were, however, probably caused by the British government disposing of its chemical and radioactive wastes through Deep Underground Injections.  The US government did this in Denver, CO at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal in the 1950’s and the city recorded earthquakes/tremors exactly during this time period.  Coincidence, conspiracy, cover-up? October 21, 2002 Parts of Minnesota See Ten Inches of Snow Snowplows are out in western and central Minnesota Monday morning after the first significant snowstorm of the season left behind as much as ten inches of snow. While the calendar says October, it looks more like midwinter in the central Minnesota town of Browerville, where schools started two hours late so roads could be cleared. Browerville Public Works Director Chuck Buhl spent the morning clearing ten inches of snow from the streets. He says the snow is wet and sloppy heavy to move. The snowstorm hit along the Minnesota-North Dakota border Sunday around Lisbon and Wahpeton in North Dakota and Breckenridge and Fergus Falls in Minnesota. Most of Ransom and Richland counties in North Dakota and Wilkin and Ottertail counties in Minnesota got from seven to nine inches of snow. Fergus Falls received eight inches. Other parts of central and northern Minnesota also received several inches of snow, but the bulk of the snow fell north of the Twin Cities. Between six and eight inches was reported by this morning in Morrison and Kanabec counties between Little Falls and Mora.

October 24, 2002 Strong Quake Jolts Much of Alaska A strong earthquake rattled Alaska Wednesday morning, but no major damage is expected from the shaker that jolted residents hundreds of miles apart. Experts say the 6.2 magnitude quake was centered on an active fault 25 miles underground. It struck at about 3:30 a.m., about 85 miles south of Fairbanks. One woman says she heard a frightening loud boom as the temblor knocked everything off her walls and shelves. ********************************************* Most of Alaska Shakes With 6.2 Quake By Associated Press October 23 2002, 8:22 AM PDT PALMER, Alaska — A strong earthquake struck deep underground near Denali National Park early Wednesday, rocking much of Alaska and waking people as far as 350 miles away, experts at the Alaska Tsunami Warning Center said. There were no immediate reports of injuries or widespread damage. The quake, with a preliminary magnitude of 6.2, hit at 3:27 a.m., jarring residents in Fairbanks, 85 miles north of the epicenter, and in Anchorage, 170 miles to the southwest, seismologist Bruce Turner said. The observatory was deluged with calls about the quake, which occurred on an active fault several miles beneath the surface, Turner said. In Healy, just north of the park, Grandview Bed and Breakfast co-owner Shelly Acteson said the quake knocked just about everything off her walls and shelves and was frighteningly loud. "Usually they kind of roll, you can kind of hear them coming," she said. "This one sounded like it was kind of mad — boom, boom, boom." Kathie White, co-owner of the Backwoods Lodge outside Cantwell, a hamlet of about 200 people 36 miles from the epicenter, said the quake roused the residents and shook items off her shelves but no one was hurt. "Just a good shaker," she said. The quake was too far from water to generate a tsunami, or seismic sea wave, but it was felt as far as 350 miles from the epicenter, Turner said. The magnitude of an earthquake reflects an analysis of seismic waves and the amount of earth slippage over the area of the fault. An earthquake of 6 can cause severe damage and a magnitude 7 quake is considered major and capable of widespread, heavy damage. The "Good Friday" earthquake in Alaska that left 131 people dead in 1964 measured 8.5 on the now-abandoned Richter scale — 9.2 by the current measurement system — and was centered in Prince William Sound near Anchorage.
