I would appreciate visitors to this forum, looking for support and migraine relief (perhaps!) to find my original messages about my discovery – and not these additional ones. I would be grateful if you would post no more messages that are UNRELATED to my discovery of an apple curing a migraine !!! NO RESPONSES PLEASE. Thank you Jay/UK Hi, I know you didn’t want responses to your post, that is why I am responding to the group instead of privately to you, out of respect for you request. The thing is, anyone who starts a thread, does not have "control" of the thread, we are all here for support and info, you posted on something that you had found to help you, and your original post is the one people will see as the first post about the apple. We are all here and don’t want to be told that we can’t post what we like to any particular thread.. that is the beauty of a newsgroup, we can discuss what the original post was and then choose what we want to add to the original one.. I was experimented on in my youth by the govt. with psychodelic drugs and I think that caused my migraines. As far as I am concerned all… and I do mean ALL… posts are relevant… if the are off topic they are still relevant as they at least momentarily take our minds off our pain… If you only want responses to your questions… either find another group, accept us as we are, or talk to your doctor. Yobo

My peaches bloomed early as I feared. They shouldn’t have bloomed for a few more weeks but they bloomed two weeks ago. Then we got a real cold spell. I don’t know what that will mean for the quality of the fruit but I am hoping that it will not effect the quantity.

Response:
The apple has potassium. It is also acid, which enables the potassium, as well as other minerals, to be absorbed and used. THere is afolk medicine book by DC Jarvis, m.d., available at amazon, which explains how this all works. A good thing to keep in mind. And this may be where the apple a day thing originated. ROz’

I am super smell sensitive and the *only* smell I can tolerate is apples… But eating them does nothing for my migraines… Good for you tho.. Ronnie

I think there have been more than one study on the green apple smell, and we had a thread on this quite awhile back.
Response:
Thanks for posting about this. I’m going to be sure to pick up some granny smith apples next trip to the market! It couldn’t hurt to try eating an apple. I guess the worst thing is that it could come back up… A few times I’ve had a migraine go away after eating take-out fried tofu with vegetables, rice and chinese hot sauce (the no-MSG kind). Sometimes it helps and sometimes not. Wish I knew why. ?? Anna
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I felt I just have to share this with you all – maybe it may help one of my fellow migraine (or even tension headache) sufferers. I had a severe migraine a few days ago – not surprising after many weeks of night-time coughing (caused by asthma) and about a week of severe asthma (breathlessness, severe coughing, like I was being choked, etc). I’d tried my main migraine treatments – both – with no results. Also my usual treatments of a cold pack on my forehead, and lavender oil in a cream base on my forehead. NOTHING WAS WORKING – I WAS IN AGONY !!!! A very good friend brought found a "food parcel" which included some apples (Granny Smiths). I started eating one – slowly, in pieces, as I felt dreadful. And amazingly I was able to lift up my head once again, my head cleared (almost completely) and I started to feel normal once again. THIS IS AMAZING. I am convinced that nothing else could have caused my recovery, I wasn’t suffering from low blood sugar (I’d eaten and drunk), and nothing else changed. Can somebody tell me what’s in apples, especially Granny Smiths? I know they’re good for fibre, contain a lot of water, and lots of acid – but that’s all I know. I would love to hear your thoughts. Kind Regards, Jay/UK
Response:
Hi Jay, Interesting. I have actually read a study where they found that the smell of green apples is supposed to help migraines. So, in your case, maybe the aroma as you were eating caused the relief. Hope it continues to help you! I will give it a try myself, the next time I’m in pain.
